Born and raised in State College, PA, Robert Cox Passow holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Penn State University, and a Master of Music degree with an emphasis in church music from Shenandoah University Conservatory in Winchester, VA.
Mr. Passow?s compositions have been performed in the Washington, DC area, Chicago, IL, State College, PA and in Prague, Budapest and Vienna. His most recent concert works performed include: Videamus, a series of Latin Christmas Motets; Soundscape on Divinum Mysterium for organ; La Corona, a series of sonnets by John Donne, set for a cappella chorus (performed and recorded by Circle Singers); and The Other Wise Man, a church opera based on the short story by Henry Van Dyke. Mr. Passow also writes regularly for his church choirs and ensembles.
Mr. Passow currently serves as Director of Music and Organist at Church of the Pilgrims, Washington, DC. He previously served in the same capacity at St. George?s Episcopal Church, Fredericksburg, VA; St. Mark Presbyterian, Rockville, MD; St. Anne?s Episcopal, Damascus, MD; and Mt. Rainier Christian Church, Mt. Rainier, MD
Mr. Passow has sung with several notable choral groups in the DC area including: Washington Cathedral Choral Society, Circle Singers, The Capitol Hill Chorale, The Paul Hill Chorale, Washington Singers, Washington Vocal Artists, and the Washington Chamber Opera.
In his spare time, Mr. Passow works in an administrative capacity for a Federal agency in Washington, DC.
