Lives in Manitoba, Canada

Hi! I'm a twenty-five-year-old graduate of the University of Manitoba School of Music, specialising in organ. I've had an interest in composing and performance since I started music lessons at age four. I received my A.R.C.T. diploma in piano performance with First Class Honours in 2001, and my Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in organ, in April 2005.
I'm currently making a "living" as a church organist, choir director, freelance accompanist and teacher.
As a composer, I deal in motives. I seek them out, play with them, transpose, bend, twist and otherwise manipulate them until I arrive at a half-decent conclusion. I'm also a very tonal composer (note: keys on my pieces) and dedicated to the concept of "form," so far as it goes. This always results in a bit of inner conflict, between the pull of the motive, the pull of the form, and the tonality that I'm hearing in my head. Quite often, I just let one of these forces win, and the results can be seen in my composition list. Pick one and listen, and you'll hopefully see what I mean. Better still, listen to them all, and let me know what you think!
The picture is of my particular weapon of choice (former, unfortunately). If you look closely, about three-quarters of the way over on the right, you can see me in poor resolution - but that's not what's important, is it? |
