Kerry Politzer

Pianist and composer Kerry Politzer graduated from the New England Conservatory in 1993 with a Bachelor of Music, Concentration in Jazz. She had previously studied classical music for fourteen years, attending the North Carolina School of the Arts. Her composition "Rhodes Rage" won Third Place, Jazz Category in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition. "Tug Of War" won an Honorable Mention, Jazz Category in the 2003 International Songwriting Competition. "Begin The Baiao" won Third Prize, Jazz Category in the 2000 Mid-Atlantic Song Competition and was a Semi-Finalist in the 2003 International Songwriting Competition. In 1999, "Revelation" won an Honorable Mention in this competition. Both compositions also won Honorable Mentions in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Competition.
In May of both 2003 and 2005, Kerry attended the Banff Jazz Workshop. In March 2002, Kerry's Brazilian repertoire ensemble performed at the Wave Hill Concert Series in Riverdale, New York. In 1996 she was a runner-up in the American Pianists Association 3rd Biennial Jazz Piano Competition. Kerry's debut CD, "Yearning", which received four stars from All Music Guide, is available on the CAP Records label. She subsequently released two more CDs, "Watercolor" and "Labyrinth," on her own Polisonic label. |
