Lives in Suffolk, United Kingdom
I am a working composer and arranger, aged 59, my wife is a midwife, my son is an opera singer, my daughter is an artist - and we have 2 dogs, Ben & Echo. We have recently moved back to Suffolk to be nearer my wife's family.
After a fascinating 27 years in British Army music, I trained as a music teacher and worked for 9 years in a high school classroom in Bedfordshire, England. I retired early from teaching 5 years ago, had a period of improving my Sibelius technique and trying to interest pubishers in my work, together with a 'day job' at the Environment Agency - from which I have now retired.
During my army music days, I composed and arranged a great deal of stuff, for my own regimental band - all with a particular purpose at the time. I quickly learned that customised music was rewarding and greatly appreciated by all - especially the performers, who knew when and why the music was written.
I now pursuing my horn-playing, conducting and private teaching; and widening my horizons as a composer/arranger by starting my own publishing & music copying business - using Sibelius as my main tool. The business supplies 'hand made' music scores and parts for customers at reasonable costs. You can find a link to Julian Music on this home page and also on my on-line store. Please visit the web site and browse through the new catalogue of wind music. Chris Robinson
