Juan was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1974. Since an early age, he studied music with different teachers in different institutions. In his teenage years, he was part of several rock bands and later small jazz combos.
In 1996 Juan obtained a scholarship to attend to Berklee College of Music, in Boston, MA. Once there, he studied composition with John Bavicchi, Ken Pullig, Dennis LeClaire and Vuk Kulenovic among other teachers. He finished with honors a double major in Jazz Composition and Film Scoring in May, 2001.
Since September 2001 Juan lives in New York. He obtained is MA in composition at CUNY, putting emphasis on electronic and ethnic music. He studied with Ezequiel Viñao and David Del Tredici. He has composed music for several films, plays and choreographies. Some of those works were Jinoh Park's film Request, which was successfully shown at Cannes, Sundance and Reykjavík festivals; Deustche Welle's documentary Under Pressure; and Geoffrey Breedon's feature film Dark September Rain.
Juan's own projects are the composition and production of his own tracks and a combo of instrumental music that is in its early stages.
Currently, he is working on an album of electronic music with strong ethnic influences, which is to be released next October. He also collaborates and performs with Todd Carter's The Looking. |
