Peter Hargreaves
Lives in Cheshire, United Kingdom

My interest in brass bands stems from my childhood when my family were connected with the Hammonds Sauce Works Company, Shipley, Yorkshire and with the two Hammonds Sauce Works Bands - (then known as "Junior" and "Senior"). I qualified to be a member of the Yorkshire Schools Brass Band and the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain which gave me the privilege of being conducted by some fine musicians including "Tom" Atkinson, Eric Ball, Dr. Denis Wright and Arthur Butterworth. For many years, my work in aviation and my young family took me away from banding. In the last few years I have been fortunate to be able to return to playing and some arranging. Until July 2007, I played tenor horn with the Tintwistle Band, based near Glossop on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District. In early May 2008 I have taken on the role of Hon. Secretary to The Marple Band - please see adjacent links.
In addition to music on this site, I have pieces published by MMI MUSIC including "Christmas Peace","The Last Spring" by Grieg and "David of the White Rock." It has been particularly pleasing for me that my brass band scores of "David of the White Rock", "Londonderry Air", "Suo Gan", "Pomp and Circumstance March No.4", Handel's famous "Hallelujah Chorus" and the extract from "1812 Overture" reached No. 1 on this website.
