Geoff Walker's Sibelius Music Pages
The Absolute Viola Quartet have released their first CD. As the title track on this is my Absolute Zero Rag it would be remiss of me not to give this venture a little publicity.
As well as my own effort the CD contains lots of music by composers infinitely more gifted than I am, but generally dead. That appears to be the price of genius.
If you wish to obtain one of these attractively produced collector's items then go to Ross Cohen's Sibelius page (first link below) and await further instructions.
I have completed a new commmission for the quartet ("Paganini Fireworks") which is now in rehearsal. I have also finished a commmission to compose around 25 minutes of music for the Crossover Youth Festival (link 3 below. This fairly large undertaking was curiously interwoven with writing several pieces for children with various rodents in the title. I am also working on a six-part flute piece for a flute choir, a new piano rag, and several song settings for a living poet.
Quite a lot of people and organisations ask me to write music for them, so I have set up a new website (gjwmusic.co.uk) to streamline the whole commissioning process.
