Jonathan FeBland (b.1960) trained at the Royal Academy of Music, London (1978-82). His work has been published and in print with Universal Edition since 1986. He has written extensively for Solo Piano and has had seven major works premièred by Louis Demetrius Alvanis. The CD ‘Piano Colours’ (Alvanis plays FeBland on the Meridian label) is expected to be released in January, 2009. Alvanis will give a solo piano recital at St George's, Brandon Hill, Bristol on January 31st., 2009, premièring selected tracks from the new CD. B3 Classic, a trio consisting of Clarinet, Cello & Piano feature FeBland's English Suite on a Warner Brothers CD 'Chamber Music Discoveries' that was launched at the prestigious Conde du Duque Hall in the Plaza de España, Madrid in December, 2007. This CD reached the top ten in the Spanish iTunes Classical Chart in February, 2008 and peaked at Number six in March, 2008. FeBland has also worked with Deborah de Graaff (Australian Solo Clarinettist and Professor of Clarinet at the Sydney Conservatorium). She has recorded his 3 Miniatures for Clarinet and Piano (UE) on CD with Walsingham (Aus) and has received numerous International Broadcasts of this work including airplay on ABC Classic FM, Australia. Thanks in part to the Internet, there are now an increasing number of eminent soloists programming music by Jonathan FeBland in their concerts. Among these are David Johnstone (Spain-based British 'Cellist), Leah Lock (Australian Flautist), Walter Achermann (Swiss Clarinettist), Prof. Glenn Egner (Venezuela-based American Flautist), Andrew Doyle (Australian Clarinettist), Hannah Gröschl (German Clarinettist) and Anson Wauchope (British Flautist). |
