Lives in London, United Kingdom

Christopher Maxim (b.1971) composes in a variety of genres, including sacred choral music, secular choral music, instrumental music and songs. His music is published in the UK by Stainer & Bell (www.stainer.co.uk), the Royal School of Church Music (www.rscm.com) and Allegro Music (www.allegro.co.uk); and in the USA by St James Music Press (www.sjmp.com).
Chris's music is performed on both sides of the Atlantic. His motet 'Felix namque' was composed for the Latvian Radio Choir who performed it in August 2006 at the Vale of Glamorgan Festival. 'Fear no more the heat o'the sun', the final song in the song cycle 'Quatrefoil', was premiered in the 2008 Machynlleth Festival by Jeremy Huw Williams (baritone) and Nigel Foster (piano). Both these pieces are available on this site. 'Toccata Nuptiale' (www.stainer.co.uk/acatalog/organ_composers_l_to_z.html) has been recorded by Andrew Wilson on the Regent label (www.regent-records.co.uk).
As well as being a composer, Chris is an accomplished organist and conductor. He is organist of St Matthew's Bethnal Green in London (www.st-matthews.co.uk/organ.html) and directs the Giltspur Singers (www.christophermaxim.co.uk/the_giltspur_singers.html): a chamber choir based in the City. Chris's qualifications include a Ph.D. in music and four Fellowship diplomas. He has published academic articles in eminent journals and he regularly writes reviews of CDs, new music and scholarly editions.
