Betty Beath, composer, pianist and educator is a leading figure in Australian music. Her works have been extensively performed and broadcast both in Australia and internationally. A South East Asian Fellowship from the Australia Council took her to Indonesia and that culture has been one of the strong influences in her composition. Her orchestral work has been recorded by Vienna Modern Masters and orchestral scores are published by Vienna Masterworks. Chamber and solo works have been recorded by the Australian Broadcasting Commission and Jade. Her most recent work, 'Lament for Kosovo, Adagio for String Orchestra' was performed by the Portland Symphony Orchestra conducted by Toshiyuki Shimada on the 20th & 21st October, 2001. |
