Joseph R. Costello
Lives in KS, United States
Dr. Costello has performed as a classical guitarist for more than 24 years. He received his musical training at Southern Utah University studying composition and music theory with Dr. Hal Campbell. For his graduate work, he studied Classical guitar performance and pedagogy with Professor Frank Koonce at Arizona State University.
Joe has spent a good deal of his time pursuing two passions, Nineteenth-century guitar music and teaching. Through his doctoral research, he has become a leading authority on German Romantic guitarists and in particular, Adam Darr (1811-1866).
As a teacher, Joe founded and directed the ASU Guitar Prep Program, which became one of the leading schools for classical guitar for children ages 5-18.
Currently, Major Costello is working fulltime for the U.S. Army Reserve and lives in Lansing, Kansas with his wife and eight children.
